The formulas
Profit = price - cost. Margin = profit / price x 100. Markup = profit / cost x 100. Margin is measured against the selling price, markup against the cost.
Example: a product that costs 60 and sells for 100 makes 40 profit, a 40% margin and a 66.67% markup.

What is the difference between margin and markup?
Margin is profit as a share of the price. Markup is profit as a share of the cost, so it is always higher.
